[SPOILERS for those not caught up on Riverdale ahead.]

-

The trailer for next week’s episode of Riverdale, ‘Chapter 10: The Lost Weekend’, promises several dramatic developments from The CW’s Archie Comics adaptation. Though we are no nearer to finding out who killed Jason Blossom, Polly Cooper is convinced that the Blossom family has something to do with it. That plotline seems to have taken a backseat, somewhat, in recent weeks. It’s both a blessing and a curse, since it gives a chance for audiences to learn more about the characters in the show, but also, we just really want to know who did it.

Once again, the plot of Riverdale seems to be focusing on something else in next week’s episode, ‘The Lost Weekend’. The new promo for the episode has been released and, when watching, it becomes obvious how and why the entire weekend is ’lost.’ The promo also holds a first look at the moment Archie is reunited with his mom, Mary Andrews, played by Molly Ringwald.

The relationship between Archie and his parents is set to be a focus of the episode, as he struggles to hide his feelings over their imminent divorce, but the rest of the focus seems to be on Jughead’s birthday party that, by the look of things, spirals out of control. The promo has a lot of scenes crammed in, but note the heated kiss between Archie and Veronica. That’s been building for weeks, and there’s definitely chemistry between the pair, but Archie has only just been dumped by Valerie, over the time he was spending with Cheryl. He sure got over all of that quickly, but by the looks of things, Valerie is quick to confront him at Jughead’s party.

There’s also a fight brewing between Jughead and what looks to be Chuck Clayton, and Betty looks to be involved, too, as well as Archie, possibly. Also, take a look at Betty’s sweater; a nod to her boyfriend, Jughead’s headgear in Archie Comics.

With only four episodes left in this season, ‘The Lost Weekend’ will also begin to tie up some loose ends, hopefully answering questions such as why Polly is so convinced that the Blossoms are somehow implicated in their own son’s murder. Does that mean Cheryl knows more than she’s letting on, and the grieving sister thing is all an act? What of the Lodge family, and all the lives Hiram has ruined by his dodgy deals? Will there be any real justice for those involved, and can Hermione manage to cut all ties to him? As ever, with Riverdale, it will be a twisting, turning series of events until we get to our answers, but it should be a lot of fun in the meantime.

Riverdale continues with ‘Chapter 10: The Lost Weekend’ next Thursday, April 13th on The CW.
