Rick and Morty is known for many things, especially its ever-changing opening title sequences, and Season 4’s is no different. Originally created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland in 2013, the extremely-adult animated sci-fi comedy series has gone on to become one of the most popular television shows of its generation, prompting both thousands of memes and a McDonald’s Schezwan sauce craze which turned out far more violent than anyone was originally expecting.
Although previously known for it’s lengthy hiatuses between seasons on Adult Swim, Rick and Morty was recently renewed for a whopping 70 more episodes, prompting for a quicker-than-usual turnaround date on the upcoming Season 4. Although Rick and Morty’s upcoming season, which is scheduled to release in just two days on November 10th, 2019, will be shorter than the show’s normal 10 episodes, this shorter Rick and Morty season already looks like it’s packing in just as much weirdness.
As revealed on Adult Swim’s YouTube page, the Rick and Morty Season 4 opening credits stays true to the series long-running tradition of changing up the adventures displayed during the show’s title sequence. New shots show Rick falling in the air next to a mutated Morty head, something which looks not unlike a Beholder demon from Dungeons & Dragons, as well as a small cybernetic dinosaur-type creature and a gigantic Morty emerging from the ocean to the terror of many much-smaller aliens. The full trailer is embedded below.
Since Rick and Morty opening credits are known for mixing in both scenes from upcoming episodes and just random shots viewers will never know the context of, it’s always interesting to guess just which clips are from episodes coming up in the show’s new season. Will Morty actually become 100 feet tall and terrorize an alien planet? Will the Sanchez home become filled with evil waterfowl in some sort of Untitled Goose Game parody? Will Cthulhu ever get its baby back from Summer?
Rick and Morty is something of a cultural phenomenon, with few shows daring to explore both scientific and disgusting aspects of human indulgence in an almost equal amount. Ever since the first Rick and Morty Season 4 trailer fans have been nearly frothing at the mouth for more, including famous viewers like Chris Evans, with all of them desperate to see a continuation of the animated duo’s adventures. With new episodes coming in just two days, Sanchez family fans have almost finally waited long enough, and let’s all hope this Rick and Morty season doesn’t create riots at fast food restaurants like the last one did.
