If you’re an Android user, this great app for when you’re away from your computer. With just an Android device and a WiFi connection, you’ll be able to download legal content from a torrent tracker. First, install it from here in the Google Play Store. After installing it, just go to any torrent tracker site you use, and click the downloaded file. It will open the app directly (just like it would on a computer), and you can choose where you want the files downloaded.

After that, just click Add and the files will be downloaded. A progress bar is displayed and you can pause or remove the torrent whenever you want.

Even though it’s a beta version, it worked just fine on the Android tablet I tried it on. I could download at a speed of over 1 MB/second and I’m sure it can get faster depending on the type of Internet connection. It includes an RSS feed so you can subscribe to your favorite sites. Just input the address of your desired feed.

It also offers you the option to download stuff from BitTorrent’s own feed of featured content.

You can also search for content directly from the app, via the search button on the top left side. Results are shown in a browser window, which means you’ll have to return to the app once you’ve decided on what to download.

For minor tweaks, there’s a settings menu, accessible through the button on the bottom left corner of the screen. You can set download and upload limits, in case you realize that downloading over a certain speed slows down your device.

All in all, a very useful app. I suggest turning off the mobile connection on your device and only using it via WiFi if you don’t have an unlimited data plan. And since we’re talking Android, the Google Goggles app now includes support for simpler cameras. Comment
