Retailers that offer free curbside pickup

1. Giant Eagle

Giant wood offers its customers grocery pickup service for free. You can order your items online. Make sure you schedule a period for pickup before you checkout. Giant Eagle has personal shoppers that are expertly trained to choose the highest quality and freshest groceries for their customers. You can go to the store at the scheduled time, park in the spot designated to you, and the store will put your groceries in your car for you. They offer next-day home delivery as well but at a fee of $5.95. 

2. Kroger

To enjoy a free curbside pickup at Kroger all you need to do is place your order online at the store’s website and select your pickup time at checkout. Don’t forget to select the specific store you’ll be visiting to get your order.  Once you reach the store, park at the designated spot, and an employee will approach your car with your package. The store only allows you to place orders online in advance 3 days before pickup day. Kindly note that you can only enjoy free curbside pickup on your first three orders, for subsequent orders you will have to pay a fee. 

3. Target

Lots of Target locations all over America had started offering the drive-up service in 2019. You just need to place your orders online through the Target app. You’ll be notified on the app when your order is available for pickup. You must inform Target through the app when you’ll be coming to pick up your order. Once you get to the store, park in the designated spot. You should then inform them you’ve arrived through the app. They’ll bring out your order and load it into your car.

4. Whole Food 

Most Whole Food stores offer free curbside pickup but not all do. To access the benefits of this offer you have to shop on the Prime Now app. Select pickup on the app, fill up your cart with your order from Whole Foods, and when you want to checkout select a pickup time that is convenient for you.

5. Walmart

Walmart has been offering its customers pickup services since 2017. To access the free curbside pickup service simply shop on the Walmart app. Select your pickup time and date on the app as well. The great part is that you can place an order by 10 am and still pick up your order that very day. You will get a notification either through text or email that your order is available for pickup. Just drive up to the store, park in one of the grocery pickup areas, and someone will approach you with your items. 

6. Nordstrom 

To enjoy free curbside pickup at Nordstrom you need to first join their free Nordy Club. Whenever you are shopping online at the store’s website select the option that allows you to buy online and pick up in-store. Then you can use the store’s app, the Nordstrom app to ask for a curbside pickup. 

7. Safeway

Safeway allows you to shop online from the convenience of your home and select a pick up date and time. When you arrive at the store at the time you selected an employee comes out with your orders and loads them up in your trunk. Note that sometimes demand can be high and some goods will be out-of-stock. So, the store may choose replacement products for you instead. 

8. Sears 

Sear offers its customers free in-vehicle pickup services. To enjoy this offer you must be a member of Shop Your Ways. You can shop online via their website or through their app. At checkout select the in-vehicle pickup option. The store will send you an email when your order is available for pickup. Just go to the store, park at a designated spot, and inform them through the app that you have arrived. 


Curbside pickup is great for busy parents, handicapped people, and busy people generally. The amazing thing is that most stores that offer this service offer it at no cost. If you don’t have the luxury of time to do physical shopping for yourself you should try out one or more of these stores’ free curbside pickup services. Yes, it is. Both curbside and in-store pickup requires that you place your orders online but In-store pickup requires you to enter the store to pick up your goods. Whereas for curbside pickup you just have to pack your car outside and your goods will be placed in your trunk by an employee. 

  1. Do I need to tip the employee that will load my trunk with my purchased items? 

Many retail stores offer curbside delivery for free. If you are enjoying a free service It is not necessary for you to tip the employee but you may if you want to.
