Here’s a quick guide to the many bosses of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Like Willaim Birkin himself, the Resident Evil franchise has mutated and twisted into many forms over the years. The original games were pioneering survival horror titles with tank controls and an emphasis on tension, but Resident Evil 4 would lead to an extended focus on action. This included co-op play and bigger guns, which naturally led to a reduction in scares.

Fans of the original games lamented this switch to action, but following the mixed reception to 2012’s Resident Evil 6, Capcom decided to refocus. The Resident Evil: Revelations spinoff titles helped scratch the survival horror itch, while 2017’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was the makeover the series needed. It stripped away much of the lore and familiar faces and adopted a first-person view. The game was a big hit with fans, and Capcom continued their winning streak with 2019’s excellent Resident Evil 2 remake.

Resident Evil is a franchise well known for its excellent bosses, from the Tyrant fight at the end of the first game to Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis - who was basically a boss battle spread out over an entire game. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard has some beauties too, so here’s a quick guide to taking them down.

Mia (Attic)

The attic fight with Mia is the first real boss encounter in Resident Evil 7, but it’s not that tough. The attic is nice and wide, so keep a distance from Mia and line up headshots. The knife will also work, but should only be used when ammo runs out since its a riskier strategy.

Jack (Garage)

One of the standout fights of Resident Evil 7 is the garage battle with Jack, but it’s ultimately straight forward. When it begins, race to the bench and pick up the car keys. Shooting Jack in the head with the pistol will slow him down, but dodging him and conserving precious bullets is better. Get in the car and repeatedly ram him; also be sure to dodge his burning form when the car goes on fire.

Jack (The Morgue)

There’s nothing like a good chainsaw fight, which Resident Evil 7 proves with the second Jack battle. Unload some shotgun shells into Jack at the start and avoid the hanging bodies. Once he grabs a chainsaw, respond in kind and pick up the other one, and kick bodies at Jack to stun him. Jack has a gross mutant bulge that pops up throughout the fight, so target that with the chainsaw once it appears.

Marguerite (Green House)

Marguerite likes to move around for this particular Resident Evil 7 battle, so keep an eye on the various holes in the wall and listen out for her. Target her abdomen with the flamethrower and don’t leave her alone for too long, as she can produce insects that will attack you.

Jack (Boat House)

The last Jack attack, this Resident Evil 7 fight is all about hitting the glowing eyes. Use the grenade launcher or shotgun, and pop all of his peepers. Go above and below Jack to make sure all the eyes are destroyed.

Eveline

A fairly straightforward final Resident Evil 7: Biohazard boss. In the first part shoot the giant evil face that emerges from the walls, and once the action moves outside, again focus fire on her face. Once the powerful handgun is dropped, pick it up and a few shots should do the trick.
