This would mark the second time the game has been re-released on Nintendo consoles after its initial appearance on the Gamecube, as the title has appeared on the original Wii console, and now sees a release on the Nintendo Wii U.

This title was a slight departure in the series gameplay mechanics and atmosphere from “survival horror” to a far more action-oriented experience. There was also a change in the camera’s adjustment from a more overhead camera view with fixed images, into a third-person camera angle that has continued throughout the series so far.

While the game has generally been well-received among most reviewers, the most recent RE entries have seen slight backlash from the fans for abandoning the survival horror roots on the series.

Resident Evil 4 is available on the Wii U virtual console for purchase now.
