UPDATE: Not so fast says CNBC… Citing sources close to the matter, Nikkei today is reporting that SoftBank will call off the Sprint and T-Mobile merger. Just under two weeks ago we heard that the two carriers would push back signing a final agreement on the deal until November. Previously, a deal was expected to be announced by the end of this month. Today’s somewhat abrupt news is said to stem from details over the ownership of the newly formed entity....

According to a report from Chinese newspaper Economic Daily News citing supply chain sources (via UDN), Apple is working on a 3D iPhone display of sorts that doesn’t require the use of special glasses. The translated report also claims Apple is actively developing 3D “software ecosystems.” The report adds that Apple will be looking to move from its current in-cell display technology, which reportedly won’t be compatible with the new 3D technology, to new panels likely supplied by partner TPK....

The Robin team today announced that its ProLine Compact Video Doorbell now support HomeKit Secure Video, having received certification sign-off from Apple earlier this week. Secure Video integration allows motion clips to be automatically saved to the user’s iCloud account. Robin has been leading the charge in the HomeKit doorbell space, being the first company to ship a HomeKit compatible doorbell of any kind last year. A Redditor first spotted that the Verizon logo wasn’t alongside AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular on the Samsung y site (pictured). This doesn’t mean that the door is completely closed. Following the discovery of reference to new iMac models in OS X, Macbidouille has found code in the new OS X Yosemite developer preview that points to Retina resolutions for the yet to be announced product. Specifically, the file points to scaled resolution modes like those available for Retina MacBooks including, according to the report, 6400 x 3600 (probably a 3200×1800 HiDPI), 5760×3240 (2880×1620 HiDPI) 4096×2304 (2048×1152 HiDPI) resolutions. The report notes that the native resolution of the machine appears to be missing from the file as it only lists resolution of the various scaling modes....
