Prior to WWDC last week, Apple highlighted that it has now paid developers over $70 billion through the App Store, with $21 billion of that occurring the last year. Microsoft service tools for Surface devices are now available from iFixit.com. Currently, three Microsoft-designed repair tools are being manufactured and sold by iFixit, enabling “precision debunking and rebounding” of components set in place with an adhesive. Notably, adhesives are one of iFixit’s main gripes about the design of modern laptops since components can’t be removed with a simple screwdriver. The ideal state is a modular design. iFixit says adhesives present one of the most challenging aspects of repairing Surface laptops because the adhesive needs to be carefully unfastened without damaging other components....

Dom reviewed Ring’s iPhone-linked Video Doorbell last year, and was impressed. I was too, with two minor complaints: video is 720p rather than full HD, and it only connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. Ring has addressed both issues with its new Video Doorbell Pro, offering 1080p video and connecting to 5Ghz Wi-Fi as well as 2.4GHz. Microsoft has released a new photo app for iOS called Sprinkles. It looks like a normal ballpoint ink pen, and it is, but hidden away in Bond-esque, spy gadget-fashion is a built-in 1,000 mAh battery with a Lightning connector, a 16GB USB flash drive, and a stylus attachment that lets you go from paper to touchscreen. Design As you might expect, the pen is a bit chunkier than your average ink pen or stylus in order to fit in a whole lot of extra functionality with the built-in backup battery and 16GB USB drive, but it’s still slim enough to feel comfortable while writing and not look entirely goofy while doing so....

Ricky Martin is to join forces with Ryan Murphy once more by appearing in his anthology show, American Crime Story. Murphy serves as showrunner for the FX show, which garnered critical acclaim with its first season, The People v. O.J. Simpson. FX has ordered three more seasons, all of which will focus on a different true crime event. Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Screenwriter Chris Terrio has directly addressed the omission of other Force ghosts at the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The ending of the Skywalker saga has proven to be a divisive one for fans and critics alike; going into the final film, Disney/Lucasfilm was very aware of their burden of resolving over 40 years of storytelling. That burden might have crippled their desire to find an ending equatable to Star Wars: Return of the Jedi’s satisfying resolution....

It was a fun ride while it lasted, but writer/director Rob Zombie shouldn’t make a sequel to 3 From Hell, and instead let the Fireflies retire. The road from House of 1000 Corpses to 3 From Hell was a long one. Zombie’s 2003 directorial debut, House of 1000 Corpses almost didn’t get released, until Lionsgate swooped in to save the day. When Zombie returned to the Firefly well for 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects, he crafted what was less of a sequel to House of 1000 Corpses and more a 1970s grindhouse exploitation movie that happened to star Otis, Baby, and Captain Spaulding....

Researchers also found that the application installed with administrator rights was not only having potential of downloading and installing software like scareware known as System Healer, but also stole personal details. Experts also discovered that the software is also able to check the presence of sandboxes, antiviruses, security tools, forensic software and remote access doors. Surprisingly, the software also consisted of the malicious module in the original Tuto4PC software [the Wizz Trojan] which also had backdoor abilities....
