Perfect Shot by TapMedia is a new iOS 7 app that is designed to make it very easy to take the perfect pictures of their friends and family. While holding either an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, to take a picture, Perfect Shot detects how many people are in the image. The app monitors and detects everyone’s sets of eyes and their smiles. Once everyone in the group is not blinking and smiling, the app automatically snaps the photo, without the need for the user to press the shutter button....

We’ve had a look at just about all of the best portable Bluetooth speakers on the market but Bose, a company known for high (prices and) quality speakers, has never made our ‘best of‘ lists. Its regular Soundlink and Soundlink II products at $300-$349 have sound and features that lower-priced competitors, especially Logitech UE, JBL Charge and even the Beats Pill were able to handily beat. According to a report from CNET, Twitter might be preparing to launch a new standalone iOS music app as early as the end of this month. The report cites “a person familiar with the matter” and claimed Twitter would use technology it acquired through its purchase of music discovery service We Are Hunted to provide a music service dubbed “Twitter Music.” CNET says the service will provide customized content suggestions based on who users follow on Twitter....

The battle for exclusive streaming rights to music content is heating up between services like Apple Music and Tidal. Universal Music Group, however, has apparently had it with single-platform exclusive streaming deals and will no longer agree to them, according to Billboard. Reportedly, Universal’s chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge told the executives of the company’s labels that Universal would no longer agree to single-platform, global streaming exclusives following the release of Frank Ocean’s “Blond” on Apple Music....

Apple seems to have a good — a really good — chance to seize enterprise sales from RIM’s BlackBerry devices. Apple boss Steve Jobs alluded to this earlier this week, when he said, “We’ve now passed RIM (Research in Motion) and I don’t see them catching up with us in the foreseeable future.” Now it seems industry wisdom is moving to the Jobsin position. “We agree with his (Jobs) views,” analyst Michael Walkley of Canacord Genuity told the National Post daily....

California now allows the commercial use of light autonomous delivery vehicles, paving the way for robot pizza deliveries and more. The use of autonomous vehicles in California is not new with this latest change an extension to the regulations that were already in place. The newly adopted rules were first proposed by the California DMV in April. Autonomous vehicles come in two main varieties at the moment. There are those that feature a safety driver and those that don’t....

Industry watchdog China Labor Watch this week published a new report detailing what it says are continued workers’ rights violations at factories owned by Apple supplier Pegatron. The report, which analyzed pay stubs of employees at the Shanghai-based facilities, notes that Pegatron is one of Apple’s largest iPhone suppliers and currently manufacturing Apple’s next-generation iPhone 7 expected to arrive next month. Apple’s other main supplier, Foxconn, has long been a source of controversies regarding similar workers’ rights issues and today’s report is a follow up to investigations China Labor Watch has been conducting since 2013....

I’ve been using the $99 LandingZone 2.0 LITE 13″ Secure Docking Station for the past couple weeks to dock my MacBook Air when I use it at my desk. Until now, when I got to my desk, I would manually plug in MagSafe power, USB hub and sometimes audio jacks – which isn’t a huge pain, but it did add time time and clutter to my workflow. LandingZone, which started as a Kickstarter project but is now in full production, has a complete solution in a white plastic/steel dock that allows you to secure your MacBook Air, and within seconds, have Ethernet, a 4 port USB hub, power and MiniDisplay Port outs ready for use....

I’m on the record as loving Logitech’s Apple accessories, having been a very early champion of the K811 Easy-Switch Keyboard, and fan of its cleanly-designed Rechargeable Trackpad for Mac. The company also thrilled a lot of people with its Ultrathin series of iPad keyboards, which weren’t cheap or perfect, but worked well while looking and feeling nice. And many of Logitech’s Ultimate Ears speakers have nailed the rare combination of great looks, great sound, and great pricing....

I have to give MOTA a pat on the back for what it has achieved with the Battery Case for iPhone 6 Plus, the first such accessory we’ve tested for Apple’s largest iPhone. Despite its generic name, the Battery Case is handsome, well-built, and at $90, a steal relative to the lower-capacity $100 and up versions we’ve seen for the iPhone 5 and 5s. Critically, despite a 4000mAh rechargeable cell inside, it’s also surprisingly easy to hold and pocket, even though it adds thickness to the already-too-large iPhone 6 Plus....

Apple’s Time Capsule network storage/wireless router is a fine device, but it often doesn’t offer all the flexibility people desire. For instance, my in-laws were after some of the functionality of a Time Capsule (back-up, fast wireless), but they also have a PC (along with a few Macs) and wanted DLNA storage for their Roku video player and some Cloud access to their files from both computers and iOS devices....

Today’s review is about the Oxford from Pad & Quill ($129). The Oxford is a premium Folio for the iPad Pro, described as a luxurious case and stand combo with an integrated pocket for the Apple Pencil. First impressions online are positive, but great iPad cases require a combination of style, features and practicality. I’ve been trying Oxford out for the last few weeks to decide how it stacks up for me....
