Rian Johnson says his upcoming Star Wars trilogy will tap into the franchise’s essence while telling a story featuring all-new characters. The director is currently preparing to release his new murder-mystery film Knives Out, but shortly after that he’ll be making a return journey to the galaxy far, far away. About a month before Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi opened in theaters two years ago, Lucasfilm officially announced Johnson would oversee a new film trilogy, writing and directing at least the first installment....

Season 3 of AMC’s travel series Ride with Norman Reedus begins by working as a subtle advertisement for the network’s biggest (though declining) hit, The Walking Dead. And why wouldn’t it? Now that Reedus is the ostensible star of the zombie series, taking over for the sort-of departed for Andrew Lincoln, whose Rick Grimes character is reportedly going to be be the focus of a number of Walking Dead “films,” it’s fitting that he would also step into the role of the show’s ambassador, even if it’s at a less-than-primetime time slot....

Ridley Scott has been making remarkable films for over four decades now, starting his career in 1977 and breaking out big time in 1979 when he created one of the greatest horror-sci-fi movies of all-time. Since then, Scott has directed over 25 films and has more in progress, even at the age of 82. Scott has four Academy Award nominations for Best Director, although he never won one. Overall, the films that Scott directed have picked up 40 Oscar nominations, winning nine of them, but his movies have not always found acceptance by a vast majority of moviegoers....

We’ve reviewed a great many Bluetooth speakers over the years – I half-suspect Seth has built an extension to his home out of them. I’ve generally not been tempted myself. If I’m at home, I’m either streaming to the hifi in the living-room, or playing through the (wired) B&W MM-1s in my office. If I’m out & about, I’m listening through my B&W P5 headphones. But there are times when you get chatting with friends about music and you all try to listen to an example on the iPhone speaker, and that doesn’t really cut it....

Forced to gather a misfit crew, Rick and Morty infiltrated HeistCon in order to confront their latest nemesis....

The CW has become well known for its television series based on comic book characters. The network’s superhero universe - consisting of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl - is based on DC Comics heroes, while iZombie is an adaptation of the Vertigo books of the same name. The CW added another comic-inspired series to its lineup this season with Riverdale, adapting classic characters from Archie Comics for a teen drama focused on a murder mystery wrapped up in a Twin Peaks tone....

News has been building about the US looking into banning TikTok and today that’s come to a head. Reported by Bloomberg, President Trump is ready to force Chinese parent company ByteDance to sell off its US TikTok operations. Anonymous sources shared with Bloomberg that Trump is planning announce the decision soon, in fact, as early as today. As we previously covered, the White House has been investigating banning the app or similar action over a number of concerns but a major one is TikTok becoming a place full of misleading speech (via CNN)....

In general, I have mixed opinions about using screen protectors with the iPhone X and iPhone XS. The phones are absolutely beautiful without any sort of protection, but with the ever-increasing cost of the devices themselves, as well as repairs, some added peace of mind can go a long way. According to The New York es, the Facebook Home team is no longer, while that doesn’t necessarily mean that the social networking giant is ceasing its Android skin efforts, it doesn’t bode well for its future either. If you remember, Facebook Home came out last spring alongside the failed HTC First, the social network’s attempt at selling users on the idea of its custom software preloaded onto a device. The new technique – jointly developed by researchers from Australia’s University of Melbourne, University of New South Wales (UNSW) and RMIT, and Germany’s Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf and Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering – involves precisely embedding single atoms one-by-one in silicon wafers. According to the researchers, the technique, which has been published in an Advanced Materials paper, takes advantage of the precision of the atomic microscope, which has a sharp cantilever that “touches” the surface of a chip with a positioning accuracy of just half a nanometre, which is about the same space between atoms in a silicon crystal....

I’m a big-screen fan. It’s the reason my primary Mac is still a 17-inch MacBook Pro, and why I have that hooked up to a 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt Display when I’m in my home office. As a writing tool, Scrivener may be a niche app, but it has a fan-base almost unlike any other app I know. For those unfamiliar with it, it’s an app written by a writer for writers. It’s a story about how quickly a person can go from being propped up as a hero to being vilified by the media before all the facts are in.
